Seattle's Summer and Winter Chamber Music Festivals

Seattle may be best-known for its proximity to the world of high tech, but the city also has formidable resources in classical and chamber music. In February, Seattle Chamber Music Society (SCMS) presents a weekend filled with chamber music at Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall at Benaroya Hall, that includes four concerts with a special recital on Saturday evening, for a specific composer or instrument. There is also a family concert.

In July, SCMS presents four-weeks of chamber music, at Benaroya Hall. After 17 years of performing at the festivals and four years serving as Associate Artistic Director, James Ehnes, a Grammy and Juna Award-winning violinist of international acclaim, became SCMS' new Artistic Director. Now in its 31st year, the summer festival also includes pre-concert recitals and family concerts as well as a new chamber music work, commissioned each year.
