Quintet of the Americas in Concert as Part of Queens New Music Festival

Repertoire includes the World Premiere of Daniel Binelli’s Espacial for woodwind quintet, bandoneon and piano, with special guests, bandoneonist Juan Pablo Joffre Romarion and pianist Polly Ferman. The performance will be accompanied with projections of images by Queens artist Karen Fitzgerald.

Other works to be presented are two other Quintet of the Americas' Queens composer commissions, Winter Music by Adam Schoenberg, and Dylan Glatthorn’s The Stuff of Comets, along with Queens composer Xinyan Li’s Mo Suo's Burial Ceremony, Chicagoan Yao Chen’s Sfumato, Neil Rolnick’s Ambos mundos for woodwind quintet and computer, Kum-Ba-Ya, Marcus by Carl Maultsby, narrated by Lawrence Evans, Short Winds by Sean Friar and Matt Sullivan’s MultipleOness.

The program will include visual enhancement with projections of photos of space taken from the Hubble telescope and a painting in real time by artist Ken Cro-Ken with the Matt Sullivan piece.
