Smooth Jazz Radio

Richard S. Ginell of AllMusic considers Roy Ayers “one of the prophets of acid jazz.” In the early 1980s, a commercial form of jazz fusion called “pop fusion” or “clean jazz” became profitable, garnering important radio airplay in “quiet storm” time slots at radio stations in urban markets across the U.S. In general, easy jazz is downtempo (essentially the most widely performed tracks are of ninety–one hundred and five beats per minute), and has a lead melody-taking part in instrument (saxophone, particularly soprano and tenor, and legato electrical guitar are well-liked). Pianist Keith Jarrett—whose bands of the Nineteen Seventies had performed solely unique compositions with distinguished free jazz components—established his so-known as ‘Standards Trio’ in 1983, which, though also occasionally exploring collective improvisation, has primarily carried out and recorded jazz requirements. Chick Corea equally began exploring jazz requirements in the 1980s, having neglected them for the Nineteen Seventies.
